GAX begins “TV Snapshot” beta testing
by PRWEB
GAX has started beta testing its TV Snapshot application, which provides interactive features to people viewing satellite television on their PCs. TV Snapshot captures data sent by broadcasters in their satellite streams and links the data to related Internet content.
(PRWEB) October 27, 2004 -- GAX S.A., the Luxembourg web solutions company, announced that its TV Snapshot project has begun beta testing.
The TV Snapshot application takes advantage of the market created by the tens of thousands of people in Europe who use DVB receiver cards to watch satellite television on their computers. TV Snapshot captures data sent by broadcaster in the satellite stream, saves it on the user’s hard drive and links the data to related Internet content that can be accessed at the viewer’s convenience.
The freeware application is available for download on http://www.tvsnapshot.com. People interested in participating as beta testers can also register on the site.
GAX Managing Director Alex Kampa stated, “TV Snapshot shows how broadcast data can be linked to interactive content, such as a music video with the related CD on Amazon. When beta testing is complete, we hope to attract a TV broadcaster who will send specially targeted data to be captured by TV Snapshot and use our application to provide enhanced services to its viewers.”
Beta testers will be able to use TV Snapshot with about 30 channels broadcast via ASTRA satellites 19.2° E. They include RTL, RTL2 and RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, Sat1, VOX, ZDF, Arte, 3Sat, TV5 Europe and Eurosport. A complete list is available on the TV Snapshot web site.
The TV Snapshot project is co-funded under ESA’s “SatCom Opportunities for Start-Up Projects” initiative. GAX is one of the first two SMEs in Luxembourg to participate in this program.
